The IRDAI has stated that Unit-linked or index-linked insurance products should not be promoted as ‘investment products.’ Insurers must clearly indicate that market-linked insurance plans are different from traditional endowment policies and come with risks.

Endowment policies that offer bonuses must clearly state that these bonuses are not guaranteed. All advertisements for linked insurance products and annuities with variable payouts must disclose the risks involved.

These advertisements must follow the standards set by the Advertising Standards Council of India. Insurers must not issue any press releases or statements without mentioning the life insurance coverage and related products.

PM Modi has put economic security with China ahead of Indian corporate profits.

India has significantly reduced the number of visas issued to Chinese citizens since the Galwan border clash four years ago. This move highlights the Indian government’s focus on national economic security.

During the clash in eastern Ladakh, 20 Indian soldiers, including Colonel Santosh Babu, died. An unknown number of Chinese soldiers were also killed.

In 2019, before the pandemic and the Galwan clash, India issued around 200,000 visas to Chinese nationals. By 2024, this number dropped to just 2,000 due to stricter scrutiny of Chinese investments.

However, in the past eight months, India has issued about 1,500 visas to Chinese nationals, with 1,000 of these for the electronics industry.

Despite government efforts to boost production with tax cuts and a ₹2 lakh crore production-linked incentive scheme, India’s trade deficit with China grew to over $38 billion in the first five months of 2024. Exports to China were $8.93 billion, while imports stood at $47 billion.

The Indian electronics sector has experienced job losses due to the visa restrictions on Chinese workers and businesspeople.
