Former Odisha Governor Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare passed away on June 15 at the age of 95. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik have expressed their deep sorrow over his passing.

Bhandare was a senior Congress leader from Maharashtra and served three terms as a Rajya Sabha member. He was also a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court and served as the Governor of Odisha from August 2007 to March 2013.

The current Governor of Odisha, Raghubar Das, expressed his sorrow, saying, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of former Governor Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare.” He added, “May Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath grant peace to his soul and give strength to his family during this difficult time.

Odisha CM Majhi called Bhandare’s passing an irreparable loss, stating, “His knowledge and friendly nature made him beloved by everyone in the state.”

Taking to his official X handle, Mr. Majhi said, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the death of former Odisha Governor Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare. His contributions as Governor were significant. We pray for his soul’s eternal peace and offer our condolences to his family and friends.

Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also expressed his sorrow on his official X handle, saying, “I am saddened by the death of Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare, the former Governor of Odisha and veteran politician.”

He added, “His humble and innocent nature, along with his dedication to the state’s progress and people’s welfare, will always inspire us. May his soul rest in peace, and my condolences to his grieving family.”
