The telecom industry group COAI is urging for a ban on Wi-Fi 6E routers that operate on the 6 GHz spectrum band, claiming they’re being sold illegally by various retailers like Amazon and Flipkart. COAI, which includes major players like Reliance Jio and Airtel, sent a letter to the Department of Telecommunications on April 15, calling for the ban as the government hasn’t yet decided on the use of these frequencies. They argue that selling routers using the 6 GHz band is unauthorized and should be stopped immediately. They’ve even provided examples of such routers from TP-Link and Google in an annex attached to their letter.

On April 30, Guwahati was chosen to host the 2025 BWF World Junior Championships by the Badminton World Federation. This decision was made during the BWF Annual General Meeting in Chengdu, alongside the BWF Thomas & Uber Cup 2024 event. India’s reputation as a top destination for badminton will receive a boost as it hosts this prestigious tournament for the second time. The event will take place at the new, modern National Centre of Excellence. The center, which opened in August 2023, has received global recognition for its facilities and large stadium since its inauguration. Located in Guwahati, it features 14 badminton courts, an international standard gym, and seating for about 4000 spectators. India last hosted the BWF World Juniors in Pune in 2008, where Saina Nehwal made history by becoming the first Indian to win the World Junior title. Additionally, India hosted the BWF World Championships in Hyderabad in 2009 and successfully organized the Thomas and Uber Cup finals in New Delhi in 2014.

On May 1, 1960, Gujarat and Maharashtra became separate states. The demand for a Gujarati-speaking state emerged in 1928, leading to the Mahagujarat Movement. In 1956, the Indian government formed a committee to reorganize states based on language. This committee suggested creating a separate state for Gujarati speakers, which led to Gujarat’s formation by merging it with Saurashtra from Bombay State. Before 1960, Maharashtra was part of Bombay State, along with present-day Gujarat and parts of Madhya Pradesh. Maharashtra is known as one of India’s dynamic and progressive states.
