  • Nair took over from Ajay Singh, the Chairman and Managing Director of SpiceJet, who finished his term.

  • Paradip Port in Odisha has become India’s largest major port in terms of cargo volume, surpassing Deendayal Port Authority in Gujarat, with 145.38 million tonnes of cargo throughput in FY24. This marks the first time in its 56-year history that Paradip Port has exceeded Deendayal Port’s record, following instructions from the Ministry of Ports.
  • In FY24, Paradip Port achieved its highest-ever coastal shipping traffic of 59.19 million metric tonnes, up 1.30% from the previous year. Thermal coal shipping reached 43.97 million metric tons, a 4.02% increase over last year.
  • The port’s growth was fueled by improved operations at the mechanized coal-handling plant, reducing idle time between unloading. Berth productivity increased to 33,014 MT from 31,050 MT in the previous fiscal year, a 6.33% growth. Additionally, Paradip Port handled 21,665 rakes, up 7.65% from the previous year.
  • In FY24, the port saw 2,710 vessels, a 13.82% increase compared to FY23.
  • China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs issued a new list of standardized names for places in Arunachal Pradesh, known as Zangnan in Chinese.

Her total lift was 38kg less than North Korea’s Kang Hyon Gyong, who won the gold medal with 234kg (103kg in snatch and 131kg in clean and jerk). Romania’s Cambei Mihaela-Valentina claimed the silver medal with a total lift of 201kg (91kg in snatch and 110kg in clean and jerk). Bindyarani Devi also earned the silver medal in the clean and jerk section by lifting 113kg. In competitions like continental, World Cup, and World Championship, medals are given separately for snatch, clean and jerk, and total lift.
