- The State Widow Remarriage Promotion Scheme was initiated by Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren on March 6. Under this scheme, widows who remarry will receive Rs 2 lakh from the government. The goal is to support widows financially and encourage remarriage within a year. Its purpose is to integrate widows into society with dignity. Widows must apply with their marriage certificate to receive the funds directly into their accounts. Eligible recipients must be of marriageable age and cannot be income taxpayers, pensioners, or government employees. They need to provide their late husband’s death certificate. Applications must be submitted within one year of remarriage to access the scheme’s benefits.
- International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8th to promote gender equality and honor women’s accomplishments across various fields.
