  • The State Widow Remarriage Promotion Scheme was initiated by Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren on March 6. Under this scheme, widows who remarry will receive Rs 2 lakh from the government. The goal is to support widows financially and encourage remarriage within a year. Its purpose is to integrate widows into society with dignity. Widows must apply with their marriage certificate to receive the funds directly into their accounts. Eligible recipients must be of marriageable age and cannot be income taxpayers, pensioners, or government employees. They need to provide their late husband’s death certificate. Applications must be submitted within one year of remarriage to access the scheme’s benefits.
  • International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8th to promote gender equality and honor women’s accomplishments across various fields. The United Nations marked International Women’s Day 2024 with the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.” The day originally emerged in 1909 as National Women’s Day, initially observed on February 28th, before the United Nations officially recognized March 8th as International Women’s Day in 1975.
  • J&K police initiated “Operation Kamdhenu” to stop cattle smuggling. They will create a detailed plan to monitor smugglers’ activities and catch those responsible. The operation will also assess the assets of suspects. It involves documenting vehicle details like engine and chassis numbers, mobile numbers, and Aadhar card information. SP Rural Jammu, DSP Headquarters Samba, and DSP (Dar) Kathua will supervise the operation.

It’ll be India’s only center solely dedicated to AI under the World Economic Forum’s Fourth Industrial Revolution Center (C4IR). Its primary aim is to advance discussions on the ethical and practical aspects of AI worldwide. Additionally, it’ll provide networking chances for AI startups. Bengaluru is recognized as one of the top cities worldwide for AI.
