Career Counselling Workshop ‘Pramarsh 2022’ started in Bikaner
Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Minister of State for Culture & Parliamentary Affairs, recently launched ‘Pramarsh 2022’, a large career counseling workshop for students in the Bikaner District of Rajasthan. Over 100,000 students from both private and government schools in Bikaner, including many from rural areas, took part. This marks the first time in India that over 100,000 students have participated in a single career counseling workshop.

Nepal will be the first country to use India’s UPI platform
Nepal plans to adopt India’s UPI system, with NPCI playing a key role. NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL) has partnered with Gateway Payments Service (GPS) and Manam Infotech to offer the services. GPS is Nepal’s authorized payment system operator, and Manam Infotech will implement UPI in Nepal.

The Institute of Economic Growth appointed Chetan Ghate as its new Director
Chetan Ghate has been named the new director of the Institute of Economic Growth, taking over from Ajit Mishra. Ghate, who previously served on the Reserve Bank of India’s inaugural monetary policy committee from 2016 to 2020, has earned recognition, including the prestigious 2014 Mahalanobis Memorial gold medal for outstanding research in economics by an individual under 45. Additionally, he presently holds the position of external affiliate at the Centre for Research in Macroeconomics and Macro-Finance at Swansea University in Wales, UK.

SBI’s Ecowrap report forecasts India’s GDP to grow by 8.8% in FY22
The SBI Research Report, Ecowrap, has adjusted India’s GDP growth rate for FY22 (2021-22) from 9.3 percent to 8.8 percent. It now predicts a GDP growth of 5.8 percent in the third quarter (Q3) of FY2021-2022 (October-December). India’s economy grew by 8.4 percent in the second quarter of 2021-22, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, unveiled the ‘Smart Card Arms License’ and the ‘Shastra App’ of the Delhi Police to mark the 75th anniversary of the force. These initiatives aim to offer digitally advanced services to the residents of Delhi. The smart card, equipped with robust security features, is designed for convenience in carrying and usage. The issuance process involves in-house printing after thorough verification of the arms license holders’ data.

Obituaries
Football icon Surajit Sengupta has died
Former Indian footballer Surajit Sengupta, known for his role as a midfielder, has sadly passed away at the age of 71 due to complications from COVID-19. Sengupta had a notable career playing for Kolkata’s renowned clubs: Mohun Bagan (1972-1973, 1981-1983), East Bengal (1974-1979), and Mohammedan Sporting (1980). He was a member of the Indian national team that achieved a bronze medal at the 1970 Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand.
