Seven PM MITRA Park sites have been announced

Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav is now Nepal’s third Vice President

Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, a leader of the Janata Samajbadi Party, won Nepal’s third Vice President election. He secured victory over Astalaxmi Shakya of CPN (UML) and Mamata Jha of the Janamat Party with support from Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), and CPN (Unified Socialist), part of the ruling alliance. The election had 311 federal lawmakers and 518 Provincial Assembly members participating, held at the Federal Parliament Building in Kathmandu’s New Baneshwor area.

The Rajasthan Chief Minister announced the creation of 19 additional districts and three new divisions

On March 17, 2023, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced the addition of 19 new districts and 3 new divisions in Rajasthan during discussions on the Finance and Appropriation Bill in the Legislative Assembly. This brings the total number of districts in the state to 50 and divisions to 10. The new districts announced by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot are Anupgarh, Balotra, Beawar, Deeg, Didwana-Kuchaman, Dudu, Gangapur City, Jaipur North, Jaipur South, Jodhpur East, Jodhpur West, Kekri, Kotputli-Behror, Khairthal, Neem Ka Thana, Phalodi, Salumbar, Sanchor, and Shahpura.

G. Krishnakumar is appointed as the chairman of Bharat Petroleum Corporation

G. Krishnakumar, an electrical and electronics engineer from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, and a postgraduate in finance management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, has become the Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). He previously served as the executive director in the company. Krishnakumar has succeeded Arun Kumar Singh, who retired as chairman in October 2022. He will hold the position until April 2025 or until further notice, as per an official order. Additionally, BPCL’s headquarters is located at Sewree Fort Road, near Sewree Station, Mumbai.

Lalit Kumar Gupta appointed as CMD of Cotton Corporation of India (CCI)

Lalit Kumar Gupta has been appointed as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). CCI is a public sector organization under the Ministry of Textile. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Gupta will assume the role of CMD of CCI immediately, serving for a term of five years or until his retirement, or until further notice, whichever occurs first.

FSIB recommends Ashwani Kumar as the MD and CEO of UCO Bank

Sampanna Ramesh achieved the title of the fastest Indian to swim across the Palk Strait

Sampanna Ramesh Shelar, a Bachelor of Physical Education student, achieved a new record by becoming the fastest Indian under-21 to swim across the Palk Strait, from Talaimannar in Sri Lanka to Dhanuskodi in Tamil Nadu. He swam the 29 km distance in just 5 hours and 30 minutes, beating the previous record of 8 hours and 26 minutes. Shelar started his swim at 6:00 am on Thursday and reached Dhanushkodi at 11:26 am. He is coached by Mr. Jitendra Khasnis and aims to complete solo swims across the English and Catalina Channels as part of the Oceans Seven Challenge.
