- Dr. Uma Rele, the principal of Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya in Mumbai, received an honor from Maharashtra Industrial Minister Uday Sawant and Minister Deepak Vasant Kesarkar for her significant contributions to Indian classical dance, particularly Bharat Natyam. The award acknowledges her outstanding achievements, extensive knowledge, and relentless commitment to preserving and promoting the Indian classical dance tradition. Dr. Uma Rele’s journey in the dance world is characterized by dedication, excellence, and unwavering passion. In 2001, she reached another milestone by completing her doctoral research on ‘Nayikas, Heroines of Indian Classical Dance’, showcasing her profound understanding and expertise in the field.
- On March 20, BEML Limited in Mysuru successfully tested a newly developed 1500 HP engine for main battle tanks. The Defense Ministry hailed this as a testament to India’s technological capabilities and commitment to self-reliance in defense.
- The engine marks a significant advancement in military propulsion systems, boasting a high power-to-weight ratio and the ability to function in extreme conditions like high altitude, sub-zero temperatures, and desert environments.
- The project began in August 2020 and is slated for completion by mid-2025, with the engine intended for use in the Arjun MK-1A tank. In September 2021, the Defense Ministry placed a ₹7,523 crore order with the Heavy Vehicle Factory, Avadi, for 118 locally manufactured Arjun MK-1A tanks, enhancing the Army’s combat capabilities.
- The upgraded tank will feature 72 improvements over its predecessor, including 14 major enhancements, significantly boosting firepower, mobility, and survivability.
- On March 21st, NIXI and MeitY launched the BhashaNet portal for Universal Acceptance (UA) Day to promote Digital Inclusion nationwide. ICANN and MeitY’s Internet Governance division are supporting UA Day. The event’s theme is “BhashaNet: Driving Universal Acceptance,” featuring keynote addresses, panel discussions, and technical sessions.
