Remembering the Legacy of Dwarakish: Iconic Contributions to Kannada Cinema
Dwarakish, a well-known Kannada actor, producer, and director, passed away from a heart attack on Tuesday at the age of 81, according to family sources.
Dwarakish, born on August 19, 1942 in Hunsur, Mysuru district, was famous for his comedy roles, making him a household name in the State. He appeared in roughly 100 films, and also produced and directed about 50 movies.
He introduced the famous Hindi playback singer Kishore Kumar to the Kannada film industry through the song ‘Aadu Aata Aadu’.
Dwarakish, a mechanical engineering diploma holder, entered the film industry in 1966 by co-producing “Mamatheya Bandhana” under Thunga Pictures.
His film “Mayor Muthanna,” featuring Kannada star Dr. Rajkumar and Bharathi, brought him significant success as a producer.
