Naval Dockyard Apprentice Recruitment 2024 Selection Process
Selection Procedure:
Candidates for the written examination will be shortlisted by trade according to current policies, based on the number of vacancies mentioned in Paragraph 1. The selection will be based on valid online applications received by the closing date of the advertisement. The selection process will include evaluation of written exam, interview, and issuance of final call letters.
Preliminary Merit List:
Candidates who submit valid applications will be placed in a preliminary merit list for the written exam. This list will be organized based on trade and category. Here’s how the preliminary merit list will be created.
Candidates with ITI Trades:
The provisional merit list for ITI trades will be based on the total percentage of marks obtained in their ITI courses. If there’s a tie with the same percentage, we’ll look at their percentage in Std. X. If the tie persists, we’ll compare the candidates’ dates of birth, giving priority to the elder candidate.
Candidates with Non ITI trades:
For trades other than ITI, we’ll make a provisional merit list based on the total marks obtained in the 8th grade (for Rigger trade) and the 10th grade (for Forger and Heat Treater trade). If there’s a tie, we’ll compare the candidates’ dates of birth, and the older candidate will be ranked higher than the others.
Written Exam:
Candidates shortlisted in the Preliminary Merit List will receive an e-admit card via email for the written examination. The ratio will be up to 1:20 for each available vacancy in every trade and category. For example, if there are 10 vacancies for the Electrician Trade under the UR category, up to the top 200 candidates based on merit will be invited to the written examination.
Scheme of Written Examination:
The written exam will use OMR sheets and include multiple-choice questions in General Science (35 questions), Mathematics (Numerical Aptitude) (35 questions), and General Awareness (common for all trades) (30 questions). There won’t be any penalty for wrong answers. The exam will last for 2 hours, and the question paper will be available in both English and Hindi.
Centre of Examination:
The exam will take place in Mumbai on May 24th. Candidates will receive details about the date, time, and venue via email. They should check their email often for updates.
Interview:
Shortlisted candidates in the Provisional List will be interviewed in Mumbai. The exact date of the interview will be communicated via email. The interview will include document verification.
