Challenges Plaguing Bihar’s Education Department: Allegations and Criticisms

Everything is not going well in the education department and government schools of Bihar. These allegations are being made by the MLAs of the ruling JDU and BJP along with the opposition party. Many MLAs, while publicly asking questions in the assembly, have criticized the arrangements made by the government. The headmaster of the school accused him of non-implementation and called Education Minister Vijay Choudhary, who stood up to answer the allegations, a magician of words.

Under the attention notice, JDU MLA Sunil Kumar raised a question to which when Education Minister Vijay Choudhary replied, MLA Sunil Kumar called him a magician of words. He asked a question in the Assembly that the right to spend development money in state-owned high schools of Bihar. The committee has…but the principal is not following the order..An education department official, despite the instructions of the Governor, gave permission to the school principal to spend an amount ranging from Rs 50 thousand to Rs 5 lakh..that too without any management. The authority was given to spend the amount with the permission of the committee, due to which a situation of loot was created. The MLAs appealed to maintain the previous situation as it was. The principal should be given the right to spend only up to Rs 5,000.

Answering this question, Education Minister Vijay Chaudhary said that this is mentioned in the rules of 2022. The expenditure limit of Rs 2.5 lakh has been increased to Rs 5 lakh. The government will not tolerate embezzlement or misuse of funds. There has been no reduction in the powers of the management committee. According to the earlier rule, the principal amount has increased from Rs 50 thousand to Rs 5 lakh. They used to take approval from the management committee after spending the amount. If the amount is more than five lakhs then it is necessary to take approval first. If the amount is spent without approval, then action will be taken. In every case, approval from the management committee is necessary.
